Mary Osborne

I have a passion for projects where I know I can make a difference in peoples' lives and for doing work that really matters in the world. As a mother, preventing the exploitation and abuse of children is close to my heart.

Mary is the SAS product manager for text analytics and natural language processing. She is an analytics expert with over 20 years of experience at SAS, with expertise spanning a variety of technologies and subject matter areas. Her passion for language and NLP has driven most of her career. The opportunity to jump into product management for NLP was the career pivot she’d been waiting for. She has had the pleasure of working with a highly skilled R&D team that shares her vision for how language can positively impact not only business but also the lives of vulnerable populations.

Mary has brought data to life in an online investigation tool to uncover child sexual exploitation. She artistically created an intuitive interface and explained her work brilliantly to introduce understanding and buy-in. She has a special interest in using analytics to provide aid during humanitarian crises, and she enjoys her work in the #data4good and #analyticsforgood movements. Mary is known for her dynamic and fun presentations and enjoys using technology to solve complex problems. She has worked on projects for the International Organization of Migration, analyzing and enabling an understanding of vast amounts of data to identify patterns and insights, using skills, determination and hard work to improve the lives of people around the globe.
