2

We know the internship search can be stressful, and we want your application and interview experience with us to be a great one! Here’s a complete look at what to expect from our intern hiring process – from application to your first day.

1. Apply!SAS intern works on a computer

If you’re interested in interning with us, start by checking out sas.com/intern for more information about our top-rated program. Here, you’ll find descriptions of the different types of internships we offer and can explore what a summer at SAS is really like.

To apply, click “search jobs” under your area of interest to complete a short online application. This includes some basic personal information, an opportunity to attach your resume and a few short questions. Don’t worry about submitting a cover letter – we don’t accept them anyway.

We accept applications September through January, but applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply as early as possible. After you click “submit,” check your inbox! You should receive an email from us letting you know we’ve received your application.

2. Application Review

Once you’ve applied, one of our awesome recruiters will review your application. Our applications are reviewed throughout the recruiting season, so don’t worry if you don’t hear from us right away! We’ll keep you up-to-date on where we are in the hiring process through our automated system. Our emails sometimes get caught in spam folders, so take a peek every week or so to make sure you haven’t missed something from us.

3. HireVue Virtual Interview

If the recruiter reviewing your applications ready to move you forward in our process, you’ll receive an invitation to complete a SAS HireVue Virtual Interview. This interview will include a mix of general and behavioral based interview questions. During your prep, think about how our values relate to your experience – you may be asked questions about this.

Check out our blog on how to nail a SAS HireVue for some insider tips on how to prepare and what to expect.

Side note: We know virtual interviewing is new and can be nerve-wracking, especially if it’s your first time. Our recruiters are used to seeing jitters, “ums” and stutters, and they won’t make a snap judgement. We aren’t looking for the next YouTube sensation – we just want to get to know you!

If you’re selected to move on in the hiring process, the next step will be a HireVue Live interview with the hiring manager for the position (AKA, your potential boss). This interview will be virtual and in real-time, like a Facetime or Skype call. We’ll let you know who you’ll be interviewing with (and what role(s) you’re being considered for) in advance – you know, just in case you want to do some LinkedIn creeping research.

This interview will focus on technical and communication skills, as well as job fit. You can expect behavioral interview questions about your previous work, projects and coursework.

Remember, the interview process isn’t one-sided – it’s also your chance to get to know us and decide if SAS is the right place for you. This is a great opportunity for you to ask the hiring manager specific questions about themselves, their team, and the role.

5. Decision

After your HireVue Live interview, the hiring manager will work with our recruiters to make a decision. The length of the final decision process can vary due to the number of other candidates, recruiter availability, and other factors. Your recruiter will keep you up-to-date on when you can expect to hear from us, but feel free to contact them with questions at any time during the process.

We also understand that for one reason or another, you may choose not to continue your candidacy with us. If you have a change of plans or accept another offer at any point during our application process, please give us a heads-up by logging into your account and withdrawing your application. No hard feelings, we promise!

6. Offer

If you’re offered the position – congrats! You’ll receive a call from one of our recruiters, followed by a formal offer letter via email. You’ll be given a time frame for offer acceptance, and a link to sign the offer digitally, at your convenience.

7. Your first day!

Once you’ve accepted your offer, your recruiter will reach out with more details, including your start date and housing (if applicable). On your first day, you’ll attend Intern Orientation to introduce you to the #saslife!
