The SAS Intern Experience

0

It was the summer of ’22. And in the words of Taylor Swift, “I remember it all too well” (Taylor’s version, of course). From mentoring opportunities, networking with top leaders and other interns, exploring our culture that promotes well-being and work-life integration to having meaningful work to gain real world experience, our interns dove right into #SASLife. But don’t just take our word for it, let’s hear from our Summer Intern Class of 2022 about their summer living out the #SASLife.

“This experience was one-in-a-million. From arriving on the first day with butterflies in our stomachs, to the last day saying our goodbyes, there was an electric feeling throughout. I met people from all over the world who I felt like I’d known for years. The culture is so welcoming that you seamlessly transition into it. My internship was hands-down the best experience I have had. I learned so much, made life-long friends, outperformed my own expectations, and have amazing memories as souvenirs.” -Sipho Langa (he/him/his), Customer Intelligence Intern

“My internship experience in one word would be adventurous. I am constantly participating in new activities whether it be a specific job, project, or conversation. This has and will continue to teach me more skills and strengths I can utilize in my everyday life.” -Remay Pemba (she/her/hers), Human Resources Intern

“My internship was nothing I expected and everything I needed. Transitioning from the military into the civilian workforce was something that caused me a ton of apprehension and worry. The community of people at SAS dissolved these fears through such generous warmth and acceptance that I never imagined would be possible in a workplace.” -Keslie Carrion, Accessibility Designer Intern

“This program has helped me grow both professionally and personally. I am so thankful to work for a company that allows interns to work on meaningful projects and provide endless opportunities to learn. I have always been treated as an equal here . How many interns can say they have met with the top executives of the company on multiple occasions? That is the SAS way! It is a community of encouraging, curious, intelligent, forward-thinking employees all working together to solve the world’s most challenging problems. The #saslife is the best!” -Logan Baldwin (she/her/hers), Health and Life Sciences Technical Intern

“My experience at SAS has exceeded my expectations! The UI design project I worked on last summer was released as a product update this summer for SAS Visual Investigator. It was so special being able to see my work go through the improvement process and make an impact with our customers. . SAS is a very unique work environment that fosters community, curiosity and passion.” -Allison Abel (she/her/hers), Fraud and Security Intelligence Intern

“When I first started, I anticipated a stereotypical intern experience: come in, learn some technologies for a summer on a project of dubious impact, and come out. SAS challenged my preconceived notions on everything from what an internship can look like, to the realities of the corporate world, to the way that technology intersects with other fields and our very human selves. I have learned so much while being allowed to lead and contribute not only on projects of global importance, but also on initiatives touching employees around me, all with the amazing support of so many mentors. For this, I am more grateful than words can express. I am excited to continue my journey at SAS!” – Christine Mendoza (she/her/hers), Technical Intern
