Well SAS, you outdid yourselves once again! For 11 years, we've been collecting and donating leftover and excess Halloween candy. This year, the SAS Health Center Center and VETS Employee Inclusion Group challenged SAS families to raise the {candy} bar once again...and boy did you do that! We tipped the scales this year at 408 pounds of candy.
To date, we have collected 4,518 pounds of candy since 2012. WOW! For more staggering statistics, check out the Visual Analytics dashboards below created by Miranda Thomas, Software Developer on the Interactive Experiences team.
What happened to ALL that candy?
We are happy to report that all candy was donated to Support Our Troops, an organization that supports troops and their families by providing care and comfort items as well as expressions of gratitude for their service.
Keith Stallings, a SAS retiree and affiliate of Support Our Troops, shared his gratitude for the copious amounts of candy that were donated this year. “Support Our Troops was so thrilled to receive the candy and sends warmest thanks to the HCC staff, and all of SAS for their generosity,” Stallings said. After pickup, the candy was bagged and ready to be shipped to troops stationed overseas. What a truly great season of giving! Thank you, SAS!
