Anne’s SAS Story

When a SAS recruiter reached out to Anne about a role in Sales in 2019, the opportunity piqued her interest: “My employer at the time was a customer of SAS, and I’d visited campus with a friend who worked at SAS years before,” she shared. “Everyone I met during the recruitment process were living examples of SAS’ values – they were curious, passionate, and had a desire to make a positive impact. That really resonated with me.”

For most of her career, Anne has worked in the Life Sciences industry, on the corporate side – so one may be surprised to hear that her career started in nursing, caring for patients at a teaching hospital in Philly. After her start in patient care, she moved to the business side– and the rest is history: “All of my career moves have involved an element of curiosity and a desire to embrace change,” she shares. “I love learning new things and am always looking to grow.”

Passion for patients

Making the jump from nursing to software sales may sound like night and day to most – but for Anne, the core purpose of her work has stayed the same: helping patients. “Helping people motivates me, and I’m able to do that here at SAS,” she explains. “Our team enables a life science organization to innovate and accelerate time to value, which ultimately enables new treatments and therapies to reach patients faster. It’s all about helping the patient.”

On the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anne says there’s never a dull moment in Life Sciences: “The ecosystem that Healthcare and Life Science companies operate in is constantly changing, especially as the way patients access care continues to evolve,” she explains. “It’s an exciting and dynamic industry to be in.”

Living the #saslife

Fast forward to today, Anne’s going on her fourth year at SAS: “What really excites me about my role is the opportunity to connect customers with SAS experts,” she shares. “We’re able to help our customers diagnose and make progress on the data problems they’re having, and I love getting to be part of that. Every day I learn something new about SAS and our technology – there are so many talented people here, with so much depth and experience throughout the company.” Anne’s also looking forward to the future – specifically, SAS’ intent to IPO in 2024: “I’m excited to be part of helping the organization grow and continue to be successful as we prepare for the IPO,” she explains. “I’m looking forward to our next chapter.”

As a fully remote employee, Anne has also enjoyed the community of SAS’ Women’s Initiative Network, one of our seven Employee Inclusion Groups: “WIN has allowed me to connect with other women who I likely wouldn’t have met through my day-to-day work,” she explains. “As a remote employee, it’s been a great way to network with others across the company.”

Outside the office

Off the clock, you’ll find Anne enjoying time with her husband, Joe, and their two daughters: “Joe and I recently celebrated 24 years of marriage, and we’ve enjoyed getting back to traveling post-pandemic,” she shares. Anne and her family enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling, and spending time at the pool and the beach. They also enjoy spending time with their spotted merle Goldendoodle, Blue.

Thank you, Anne, for sharing your story! Curious about a Sales career where you can make a difference while making a living? Check out our open roles.
