If you’re curious about what it’s like to work at SAS, you’re in the right place. Our people are always asking, “What if?" and pushing the bounds of innovation, and their curiosity is at the core of our company.
Today, meet Annette Green, our Regional Vice President of the DACH region in EMEA. She’s sharing about her journey to SAS and passion for women in tech.
Meet Annette
Annette’s SAS story began while she was studying Computer Science at North Carolina State University, where SAS was originally developed. After interning with SAS as a student, she knew she wanted to return post-grad: “The experience was first-class,” said Annette.
A year after graduation, she got her wish and joined the SAS family. Since then, she’s held a variety of roles at SAS, and has since moved to Germany in her role as Regional Vice President, managing operations of our DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
Passionate problem-solver
For Annette, the best part of the job is connecting with employees and customers to make a difference: “SAS was founded out of the need to solve real-world problems,” she explained. “For more than three decades, I’ve had the opportunity to be surrounded by some of the sharpest minds in the industry who are all connected by a common goal to make a positive difference to each other, to our customers and to improving the world. SAS feels more like a family than a workforce, and I really enjoy that.”
At SAS, no two days are the same: “As a market leader, we are continuously evolving our products and transforming how we serve our customers. There’s always something new to learn and to challenge you. I’ve never been bored or felt like I’ve mastered it all.”
Passionate about connecting women in tech
In addition to her role as Regional Vice President, Annette also serves as the executive sponsor of our Women’s Initiatives Network (WIN) chapter in the DACH region.
“Women in technology face a unique set of challenges and speaking openly about these challenges helps us overcome them,” she explained. “I’m a huge advocate for networking – it’s critical to building community in the industry and helps women achieve their career goals.”
Outside the office
Before her move to Germany, you’d find Annette on the golf course in her spare time. These days, you’ll find her taking in her surroundings: “One of my favorite weekend trips was to the Alsace region in France,” she shared. “We pedaled our bikes through the wine hills and visited various towns along the route.”
She also loves taking walks with her two Pulik, Cookie and Kira: “They go almost everywhere with us because Europe is so dog-friendly,” she shared. “We even have a bike wagon for them!”
.
Thank you, Annette, for sharing your story.
