Ring in the New Year

Hello Open Mic readers!

Thank you for reading our blog where we discuss all things related to SAS authors, the publishing industry, and programs from SAS Publishing. 36 different individuals contributed their expertise and insights to Open Mic in 2010! They discussed such topics as SAS documentation, social media, textbooks, hash objects, piracy, data step programming resources, technical writing tips, to name a few. We enjoyed following along with (and learning from) Proc Certify, as Christine and Stacey chronicled their journey in pursuit of SAS Certification.

As we head into 2011 we look forward to another year of thoughtful discussion with you about the changing world of publishing and your use of SAS software. If you have a topic that you’d like to read or blog about, please submit it to our new Open Mic editor, Shelly Goodin. Shelly has taken over the leadership for Social Media at SAS Publishing. We are thrilled to have her in this role and look forward to seeing her ideas and programs come to fruition. Shelly takes over for Kirsten Hamstra who has recently been named head of Social Media for all of SAS Institute! Congratulations, Kirsten.

We’ve had one other personnel change of note… after 14 years as a SAS Publishing Sales Representative, Patricia Bergamasco has announced her retirement. We will miss Patricia’s energy and knowledge but extend our warmest wishes as she gets to enjoy the fruits of her labor by spending more time with family and friends. Thank you for your dedication, Patricia.

And thank you for participating in Open Mic and for using SAS software. On behalf of everyone at SAS Publishing, we look forward to another exciting year of producing the content you need to make the most of your investment in SAS. Best wishes for a successful and prosperous new year!

  1. Thanks so much for your kind wishes, Sunil! I really appreciate it and look forward to continuing to work with you in my new role. I hope to see you at SAS Global Forum in Las Vegas.

  2. Congratulations Shelly. Hope we can still work together in your new role to help promote SAS books. Thank you Patricia for always being there to answer SAS user questions about which SAS book best fits their individual needs. It is important to have someone knowledgeable in this role since there are many SAS books to choice from. I will miss you at SAS conferences!

  3. Thank you so much Sean and Kirsten! I am so excited about soon beginning my new position--and becoming editor of the Open Mic blog. Kirsten, you are going to be a very tough act to follow and I'm so glad that you are leading social media strategy at SAS! It will be great continuing to work together.
