SAS Summer Reading

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. In my case, truer words were never spoken. When I was first married, I won a small sum and spent some of the winnings on an excellent cookbook for our new family. You know, one with a really good meatloaf recipe, tells you how long to roast a chicken, and has a great Boston Cream Pie recipe (my favorite). Well, we’ve been married going on 20 years, and that book’s spaghetti sauce stains and dog-eared pages attests to its value in our lives. It’s the best free book I ever got.

Through the SAS Academic Evaluation Copy Program, we are offering you the chance to find the perfect book to add to your curriculum. If you’re a professor, associate professor, or adjunct professor, you can evaluate two free books per semester, no strings attached—you don’t have to purchase or return the books. Why do we do this? We are confident that our books have the content that you and your students need now. And, like my cookbook, these books don’t go out of style, so you will be using them for a long time. Check out our catalog to see the wide variety of books that we have, many of which have been written by other professors and are intended for use in the classroom. A few titles like Learning SAS® by Example: A Programmer’s Guide by Ron Cody even include solutions to the exercises. It is our hope that this material will help you develop your courses and adopt SAS into your classroom.

In particular, I would like to point out two other fabulous, and free, teaching resources from SAS:

SAS On Demand for Academics offers access to SAS® software wherever and whenever you need it. This product will be available at no cost to all students worldwide this fall.

The SAS Global Academic Program works closely with professors, students, researchers and other education leaders to support the use of SAS software in teaching, learning and research. Here you can find resources for professors, students and Institutional Reseachers.

So now that school’s out for the summer, take a few minutes to look over our catalog and see how SAS publications can improve your course offerings for the fall.

As for me, I’ll be thinking about that Boston Cream Pie…
