Dashboard 4.3 Global Formatting Options

2

Within BI Dashboard 4.3, you can change the font styles on different elements within the Dashboard. This is a global change to all the indicators displayed on the dashboard as you are unable to modify at an indicator level fonts for titles, cells, etc. Ranges are placed on indicators and can conditionally format values within the indicator. But for today, I'm talking only about the type of global changes - such as everything on the page changing from 'Arial' to 'Times New Roman' font.

The SAS Documentation for BI Dashboard mentions the Properties pane for the dashboard and provides a screenshot at http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/bidbrdug/63081/HTML/default/viewer.htm#p16lhydujg2omxn1xx4eabfwmhoq.htm

Just select the drop down box for Type you will get a laundry list of elements to modify. After selecting any one of these the font name, size, style, and color widgets are all enabled. As indicated in the below screenshot.

Included is that laundy list of types available in the drop down list:

  • Data table cells - affects the data within the spark table
  • Data table headers - affects the column title within the spark table
  • Dynamic text - changes the dynamic text indicator
  • Gauge range values - modifies the kpi indicator ranges
  • Gauge titles - changes the kpi indicator title
  • Gauge values - changes the data values displayed in the kpi indicator
  • Graph axis tick labels (preferred) - affects axis tick labels (marking the intervals within the axis, such as 'Aug2010, Aug2011, Aug2012' or '5, 10, 15, 20')
  • Graph axis title labels (preferred) - changes the label of the axis (such as Month, Product)
  • Graph data labels (preferred)
  • Indicator tooltips (preferred) - controls the mouse over text
  • Panel titles - modifies the indicator object name
  • Prompt items (preferred) - changes the text displayed within the prompt

For the types that include '(preferred)' this means that if there isn't enough space on the dashboard, the font options will NOT be honored.
