SAS Enterprise BI Installation Tips

0

So I was downloading the SAS EBI product to my laptop this weekend and saw a couple of items that I should point out to everyone.

  1. For those die-hard SAS users (like myself), using the SAS Setup Disk in the first section for SAS Foundation seems like the natural choice. HOWEVER DON'T DO IT! Start with the SAS Software Navigator CD in the second section. This actually steps you through the entire process.
  2. But before you get started, go ahead and install the Java Development Kit. It's mentioned in the Pre-Installation Documentation (in the Section on creating users).
  3. Yeah, create some users! sasadm, sasdemo, saswbadm, etc. And give them the 'Login as batch' cabilities (in the Local Security Policy).
  4. And I almost forgot ... INSTALL TOMCAT in a file location with NO SPACES. The default location typically ends up as 'C:\\Program Files\Apache\Tomcat 4.1' CHANGE IT!
