Running SAS Task on Small Dataset - Workaround

0

Last week was incredible! The amount of activity from training, supporting and related system administration kept me very busy. The next few posts are my backlog of findings & tidbits.

My boss was running into a problem with using a SAS Task from the SAS Add-in to Microsoft Office Excel on data local to his machine. (Running version 1.3) Weird error messages in the log pointed to a 'connection' problem with the server. I stopped & restarted the SAS services application, but it still didn't work. Come to find out, this is a bug currently in the software - and is usually seen when their is one column of data to analyze.

Workaround: Highlight the entire column (CTRL-SHIFT-END works wonders) and then run through the SAS Tasks options. Everything works as desired.

SAS has stated they will have this resolved in the next release! I'm grateful, the less time I spend in my boss's office the better ;)
