"Welcome to the English summer."
"In the US you have climate. In England we have Weather."
These are just two of the familiar phrases I heard yesterday during the SAS Professionals Convention held at SAS UK in Marlow. The weather changed from sun to dark clouds to rain and even presented an exciting thunderstorm, before turning back to sunshine again.
But whatever the weather brought, it did not seem to dampen the spirits of the 140+ attendees who came to sit for SAS certification exams. It was a record-setting number for a single SAS testing event. And thanks to months of study groups (facilitated by SAS trainers) and support on sasProfessionals.net, the pass rate was very impressive as well. Of course, not everyone passes; these are challenging exams, proving that being "SAS certified" means that you really know your stuff.
The event continues today and tomorrow, with some talks and demos to presented by thought-leaders and experts. I'm looking forward to the keynote by David McCandless (Information is Beautiful fame), starting in just moments in the main marquis. Time to sign off and get to my seat!

Marlow is a fabulous place to work - I miss my visits there!
This event was really well done. The SAS employees in the UK were just super friendly and helpful. The attendees were all enjoying it as well! A great venue...
And some great speakers! And yes, Marlow is a fabulous town. We even went over to Henley-on-Thames (a town over) and explored there a bit. They have a nice river ride there...
