Cracking the code for successful conversions: Facilitated sessions – what do we do now?

0

So, the facilitated session is over. You have gathered a tremendous amount of information, and you may be wondering what to do now.  I like to categorize all the information, and hopefully during the session you did some prioritization of the requirements based on company goals.

If you have never looked at the company goals, this is a good time to dust them off. You can use them to make sure that this conversion and the requirements that surround this conversion are aligned with company goals.

That said, consider these points:

  1. Sort together "like" requirements.   This will make prioritization easier.  What I mean by this is if one person is talking about financial reporting for a conversion topic, consider including reporting on customer and product if someone had asked for reporting on that.
  2. Number the requirements
  3. Prioritize the numbered requirements
  4. Create a PowerPoint to deliver the prioritized requirements to the participants of the facilitated session

Periodically you will need to go back to a business user and validate something that may have been stated during the facilitated session.  Don’t be shy about validating input or output from the session with any of the participants.  However, delivering the information should take place to the whole group at one time if at all possible.

From this point, you can write the feasibility and get estimates for the prioritized requirements.  Good luck!
