The great analogy of SAS BI Products

0

There has been a lot of confusion at my company on what all of these different products from SAS are about. However, during a training session yesterday I was able to convey the variations of the SAS products by creating an analogy with Television stations and products. This gave the users a simple reference point to relate with how SAS BI products can accomplish varying tasks.

Web Report Studio = PBS You all know how executives like the pretty reports and users like a simple interface. Web Report Studio delivers the SAS products in a easy to learn interface. Users are usually not scared away by pointing and clicking through report generation.

Add-In to Microsoft Office = ABC or CBS This is the current meat & potatoes product where outside of 'Cable Stations' the users get a format familiar to them with the ability to accomplish success in analytics.

Information Delivery Portal = TIVO Similar to how TIVO stores your favorites & dislikes as well as publish user specific advertising, the Information Delivery Portal organizes reports throughout the Web into one consolidated view. Also, administrators can 'advertise' information through the use of publications channels.

OLAP Cube Viewer = CNBC Well, I don't know about you, but sometimes financial techniques can be scary to learn but they can provide a lot of useful information and tips into your financial success. The OLAP Cube Viewer could easily scare the 'uneducated investor' away with it's terminology and acronyms. However, once you get the gist of this great product, you can get A LOT of bang for your buck.
