SUG Road Trip: Final destination Baltimore

1

Our SAS Users Group regional road trip is coming to an end. Final destination -Baltimore, MD.

That will be the site of the Northeast SAS Users Group regional conference November 11-14. More than 500 users are expected to come together to share ideas, learn from experts, and increase their SAS skills.

Baltimore, the 24th largest city in the US, is sometimes called the City of Firsts. Well, it’s definitely not the first time SAS users have invaded the area, and based on all the area has to offer, it won’t be the last.

The city, much like NESUG, has something for everyone. Prior to opening session you might have time to catch the Baltimore Ravens vs. Oakland Raiders. It’s a 1:00pm start so it should give you plenty of time to get back to register and share dinner with your SAS peers.

The close proximity of the National Aquarium makes it a nice sight during a quick break between NESUG activities.

I wouldn’t recommend trying to squeeze in any Civil war historical sites, like Fort McHenry, since there are so many. I would, however, suggest a little bit of a longer stay since these shouldn’t be missed on any trip to Baltimore.

I myself have a tell-tale heart and therefore would be remiss to remind folks that the literary great, Edgar Allan Poe has a strong tie to the area. While not born in Baltimore, he was married, died, and was buried in the city known to some as Ravenstown.

So sports fans, literary buffs, civil war enthusiasts, and SAS users groupies come to B’more November 11-14. It will be a road trip to remember!
