Where's Rick at SAS Global Forum 2014?

0

Once again I'll be at SAS Global Forum this year. The 2014 location is Washington, D. C., so I am looking forward to greeting many friends in the government and consulting sectors. I always enjoy talking with SAS customers about statistics, simulations, matrix computations, and the SAS/IML product, so here's my schedule at SAS Global Forum. Please say hello!

Sunday, March 23, 2014

I have no scheduled presentations. I will be at the Opening Session from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., followed by the Get-Acquainted Reception from 8:30 – 10:30 p.m.

Monday, March 24

I am at the SAS/IML booth in the SAS Support and Demo Area for most of the day, so this is a great time to talk about what you are doing with SAS software or features that you would like to see added to a future release. My hours in the Demo Area are:

  • 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.: At the SAS/IML booth
  • 11:30 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.: Super Demo: "Ten Tips for Simulating Data with SAS"
  • 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: At the SAS/IML booth, except during the next Super Demo
  • 2:30 p.m. – 2:50 p.m.: Super Demo: "Using Heat Maps to Visualize Matrices"
  • 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.: Grab a drink and some hors d'oeuvres and chat with me at the SAS/IML booth during the evening mixer!

Tuesday, March 25

I will be attending talks during the morning, but send me an email if you want to schedule a time to meet. Or grab me at one of the coffee breaks!

My only scheduled activity on Tuesday is that I am appearing on the SAS Tech Talks show. Chris Hemedinger will interview me about calling R from SAS during the 2:00 p.m.. show. This interview can be watched live at www.sasglobalforum.com, or you can watch the show after the broadcast.

In the evening, please join me and other SAS professionals for a meetup session 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in Chesapeake Room A/B/C. This meetup will include leading members of the SAS online community, including representatives from SAS-L, sasCommunity.org, the SAS Support Communities (a.k.a., "Discussion Forums"), and other online networking sites for SAS professionals. Besides providing an opportunity to network, the meetup will include the presentation of the annual SAS-L awards.

Wednesday, March 26

I will be giving a Hands-On Workshop on "Getting Started with the SAS/IML Language" from 11:00 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. There will be a room full of computers and you will have an opportunity to learn some SAS/IML programming techniques. If you have always wanted to try SAS/IML, but it is not licensed at your site, this is your chance! It is free, so please join me before you head home.

So whether you want to discuss statistical programming, comment on a blog topic, or tell me about a cool project that you are working on, please introduce yourself at the conference. I look forward to meeting old friends... and making some new ones.
