More than 175 users attended the recent one-day conferences sponsored by the Pacific Northwest SAS Users Group (PNWSUG). Conference chairs Sara Beck and Mark Thompson, supported by the PNWSUG Executive Committee, created another great learning experience for SAS users in Seattle (Sept 19) and Portland (Sept 21). However, change is on the way. Pete Lund, PNWSUG long-time volunteer, explained that due to the changing economic climate and market conditions, the group has decided to merge with the Western Users of SAS Software (WUSS) at the end of the 2011 conference season.
SAS users in Alaska, Washington, Idaho and Oregon will continue to receive strong support from SAS for in-house and local SAS users groups, and beginning in 2012, they can look forward to joining their West coast SAS colleagues at the regional WUSS conference.
It is impossible to thank the many PNWSUG volunteers for all that they have done since their start in 1981 (26 conferences as least), but I would like to try. Thank you for the learning, the fun and a lot of great memories.

I'd like to thank everyone involved with the PNWSUG, especially the planners, the Executive Committee (EC), SAS Institute, and the countless Volunteers for many great years serving SAS users throughout the Pacific Northwest. Thank you for all your hard work! It is a pleasure to welcome all PNWSUG users into the Western Users of SAS Software (WUSS) user community and I look forward to seeing all of you at future WUSS conferences and events.
Ditto That .!. What great people and what a great time we had this year. Keynote speaker Rick Langston is such a gentleman and spoke with wisdom about their being the first regional. He encouraged participation both with Western Users of SAS Software and also the current city groups.
