SAS training students talked, and we listened

1

Speak and you shall be heard.”  Well… our students spoke, and we listened!  SAS Education is always striving to improve the training we deliver, and one of the most important ways we do this is by taking the time to listen to our students.

Over the past several months, our SAS Foundation curriculum development team has examined course evaluations from more than 10,000 students and has taken steps to update our SAS Foundation course offerings based on that direct feedback.

Effective March 1, the majority of the revised SAS Foundation courses were released with content updates, including  SAS® Programming 1: Essentials, SAS® Programming 2: Data Manipulation Techniques,  SAS® Macro Language 1: Essentials, and SAS® SQL1: Essentials.  Those courses not released March 1 will follow soon.  In addition to the updated courses, our team has released two new courses, Exporting SAS® Data Sets and Creating ODS Files for Microsoft Excel and ODS Graphics: Essentials.  We’ll soon release the new course Creating Reports and Graphs with SAS® Enterprise Guide®.

So, what do these updates mean for you, the student?  Here are a few of the changes, along with notes that address requested features.

Course Update Feature: Benefit to You:
Programming tasks are introduced in the context of example business scenarios. Example scenarios help relate common programming tasks and concepts to common business tasks.
Course demos and exercises are written to allow students to perform programming tasks in the SAS windowing environment as well as the SAS Enterprise Guide interface. During class, explore both SAS programming environments.  Then, make better use of your preferred SAS interface when you return to your office or home after class.
Course notes are now available to students in an electronic .pdf format. View course notes in full color on your laptop or tablet and easily conduct electronic searches.
Our new compact format has helped cut the page count of course notes 32% on average. Achieving a more “green” environment is a goal for everyone today.

We hope you like the changes, and we hope to see you in a SAS Foundation course soon.

  1. I love the fact that you'll be providing electronic copies of your notes. The latest course I took had paper copies in black and white. That doesn't work once you can't see the slides!

I understand the risk with the intellectual property and am glad that you think its worth it.
