Accessing BI web applications from Windows 7

0

According to the SAS Documentation http://support.sas.com/resources/thirdpartysupport/v92m3/browsers.html Windows 7 machines should use Internet Explorer 8. Unfortunately Microsoft will no longer allow installations of IE 8 on Windows 7 machines. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-8

I was able to get all the web applications to work on Google Chrome however the BI Dashboard appears but not all the functions work. So going back to the list of supported browsers and Firefox 3.6 is listed. Downloaded and uploaded this version from Mozilla.com.  The BI Dashboard failed to load because I needed to also download adobe flash for Firefox. Ok, one more step. From Firefox, I went to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and in the middle of the page where I should see version information I got a 'Download' icon. After clicking and downloading the plug in, the space is now filled in with version information.

BI Dashboard now loads and runs successfully!

A quick afternoon follow-up: Running IE9 in Compatibility Mode appears to work successfully. Go to Tools ->Compatibility Mode Settings (select Alt-T to show the Tools menu) and add the machine where your webserver is running. (My websites are at http://l73453:8080/SAS... so I just added l73453.)
