Navigating the BI Client Tools

0

(SESUG2009 Paper Preview)
As I mentioned so many years ago (check my 2005 post out "The great analogy of SAS BI Products"), SAS offers a wide range of products for various users to get what they need and do what they must do.

Due to this, I relate the various SAS BI Products to the TV and the general viewer community.
Essentially here is a breakdown sample:

  1. Everyone likes to use the TV remote, so SAS Web Report Studio and making use of a programmers SAS Stored process, covers everyone.
  2. Prime Time Stations like ABC/NBC/CBS are the equivalent of Windows' Microsoft Office, everyone likely has it and for those that dig Excel for data manipulation and use Powerpoint for data reporting will absolutely enjoy SAS Add-in to MS Office.
  3. DVRs that record your favorite shows, seeing these in one location is similar to what the SAS Portal offers. A central point of reference for all the widgets (reports, data explorations, information maps, dashboards, etc generated by SAS.

During the SESUG conference (Oct 26, 2009: Monday 4-4:20p), I'll discuss these break outs and how best to strategize a deployment plan at your company. Be sure to see me in East Hall, Level 3, Room E!

Future Information and Discussion Points will be included on the SASCommunity Page after next week's conference: http://www.sascommunity.org/wiki/Navigating_the_SAS_Business_Intelligence_Client_Tools
