Publishing is a rapidly changing business. As technology continues to revolutionize the way we consume information, one thing seems to remain constant – “content is king.” SAS Publishing recognizes that our customers now carry Kindles, visit online discussion forums for solutions, edit wikis with sample code and ask programming questions via Twitter. Valuable content is being exchanged and commented upon on a variety of digital platforms. Open Mic: The SAS Publishing Blog makes its debut as a platform for SAS users and the SAS Publishing team to share information and ideas as together, we face the challenges of publishing and reading today.

I joined the Publications division last December as its new Web Marketing Specialist and have worked with the team to develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy for SAS Publishing. Through a two-phased approach, the plan uses external social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) and new author pages to allow our customers to connect with SAS Publishing, our authors and our content in a fresh way.

This blog is a collaborative effort among our staff, authors and other SAS experts. Expect to see several different voices and points-of-view featured here along with news about our upcoming titles, new projects and industry thought leadership. We’ll be welcoming our readers with a special feature called PROC CERTIFY; which will chronicle the journey of two of our own as they study to become SAS certified. We hope that Open Mic allows our readers, customers and friends an inside peek into our business and the people behind it, and offers a platform for meaningful conversation about our products and the evolving publishing industry.
