Celebrating over a decade of deep strategic partnership between SAS and Tamkang University (TKU), the Department of Statistics and Data Science recently hosted the SAS Certification Awards Ceremony on May 26. This milestone event not only honors the students' latest achievements but also showcases our long-term joint commitment to equipping next-generation talents with global data science credentials.

Key Highlights & Achievements This Semester:
- Certification Results: In the recent exam (results released May 19), 11 out of 29 students passed the SAS Base Programming certification, while 3 advanced students challenged the Advance Programming certification.
- Robust Support System: Led by Associate Professor Wen Yang, the department provides a complete ecosystem including specialized coursework ("Advanced SAS Programming"), pre-exam tutoring, and over NT$800,000 in cumulative scholarships/subsidies to alleviate students' financial burdens.
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): This semester, SAS Taiwan sponsored full registration fee waivers for 3 underprivileged students facing special circumstances.

Two Pillars of Our Collaboration: Certification Courses & SAS Academic Specialization
- The Foundation (SAS Certification Courses): The collaboration began over ten years ago, initially introduced to help master's students obtain international credentials. In 2016 (105th Academic Year), TKU pioneered a highly successful model by moving these specialized courses and certification exams directly onto the Tamsui campus.
- The Milestone (SAS Academic Specialization - AS): Building on this success, TKU became the first higher education institution in Taiwan to officially sign the "SAS Academic Specialization" agreement in 2022. This joint curriculum verification grants students AS digital badge, enhancing TKU graduates' career competitiveness with a certified, industry-standard technical edge.

Honoring the Partnership & Looking Ahead (From a Pre-Event Interview)
A week prior to the ceremony, Rosa Chung, Senior Education Sales Manager at SAS Taiwan, met with Department Chair Dr. Bai-Ling Li and Associate Professor Wen Yang during a press interview.
- Token of Appreciation: On behalf of SAS Taiwan, Rosa presented a special commemorative gift to Professor Yang, thanking him for his tireless, decade-long dedication to nurturing SAS talent. (Due to a demanding schedule, Rosa did not attend the May 26 ceremony in person).
- Future Vision: "While Python is highly commoditized in today's market, mastering SAS tools gives graduates a distinct competitive edge," noted Rosa Chung. "Moving forward, we aim to expand our synergy beyond certification and AS, opening up more collaborative opportunities in Agentic AI and advanced analytics."
