SAS Curriculum Pathways is more than just a product. In many ways, we're a family. Lots of us have worked here for over a decade and love what we do. Part of the reason for starting this blog is to give you a little behind-the-scenes tour of how we operate: the people, the motivation, the nuts and bolts.
We all have a common denominator: we want to help students and educators worldwide, and we consider ourselves lucky to use our skills for such a cause. We are a team of educators, software developers, instructional designers, testers, project managers, and writers—all focused on creating SAS Curriculum Pathways.
Earlier this year, a handful of us were asked to talk about working here and what it means to us. In these videos you'll hear from someone in each department—from curriculum development to quality assurance to design.
First, we have Mary Ashley. Mary has been a project manager with us for over 15 years (yes, we have been doing this for awhile). Mary heads up our projects in English language arts and social studies. She believes she has the best job on the planet, hands down.
Next up is Todd Cook, who has also been here for 15 years. He started in a gaming division and has been one of our interactive designers for the past 13 years. While not slaving away in Photoshop, Todd also enjoys training for triathalons. He has completed over 30 in the last 10 years!
Six years ago, Allison D'Englere started here as a student working in quality assurance and now is tester extraordinaire for so many parts of the product we've lost count. Accounts, Spanish, search, automation, standards—Allison does it all. Between defect filings, she roots on the Wolfpack in every sport and looks for her next retail therapy session.
Three years ago, we welcomed Chad Hall to our development team. He immediately fit right in. As you'll hear in the video, he can talk about Curriculum Pathways all day and loves solving the complex problems we throw at him. Chad's hobbies include video game development, soccer, and being dog dad to Carolina, his pug.
About the time Chad joined us, we set out on the journey to create an Algebra 1 course. Needing another math teacher, we were lucky to land Staci Lyon, a 12-year-veteran of Wake County Public School System, where she taught Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 (both academic and honors). She now is our math curriculum specialist, bringing you more Algebra than you ever wanted.
Last, there is me, Brandy Mann. I have been here for almost nine years, starting as a student in project management, then moving to quality assurance, and now working as a developer on a wide variety of product tasks. When I am not answering customer questions and debugging IE, I blog for a working mom community and take care of my house full of boys.
Stay tuned to the blog for more about the people who make SAS Curriculum Pathways run!
