The jewels of forecasting at Analytics2012

Leaving Las Vegas

Prince Harry, who recently gambled away a handful of the royal family jewels during a high-stakes billiards game, doesn't have to be the only person to leave Las Vegas with some important lessons learned. You can, too, by attending the Analytics2012 conference at Caesar's Palace, October 8-9.

Learnings start on Sunday October 7, when eight pre-conference workshops are being held, including:

  • Forecast Value Added Analysis
  • Demand-Driven Forecasting: Sensing Demand Signals, Shaping and Predicting Demand
  • Modeling Trend, Cycles, and Seasonality in Time Series Data Using PROC UCM

While Analytics2012 covers a broad range of topics (data and text mining, optimization, predictive analytics, web analytics, quality, big data, and high-performance computing), there are several key forecasting presentations on the agenda:

  • SAS Time Series Studio: Understanding Time Series
  • Applying Data Mining in Raw Materials Forecasting (by Arthur Kordon of Dow)
  • A New Approach to Revenue Optimization in the Travel and Hospitality Industry
  • Combined Forecasts: What to do When One Model Isn't Good Enough
  • When Predictive Analytics Meet the Smart Grid: Electric Load Forecasting

Then after Analytics2012 ends on Tuesday, stick around for three more days of post-conference training on a multitude of SAS analytics products.

Prince Harry Memorial Billiards Tournament

In honor of the little prince (at least per TMZ's interview with "Real Housewives of  Beverly Hills" star Lisa Vanderpump), we're hoping to arrange a billiards tournament for all conference attendees.

Stay tuned for details, and chalk up those cues!
