Manya Mayes, a fourteen-year SAS veteran, plans and executes SAS’ worldwide marketing strategies for text mining. She plays an instrumental role in developing text mining applications for emerging technologies in the area of early warning and consumer and product safety. Author of a number of white papers and articles on text mining, her work with SAS® Text Miner began with its inception in 1998. Manya earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Waikato in New Zealand in 1991. She has over nine years of text and data mining consulting experience for industries including financial, manufacturing, telecommunications, and pharmaceutical, helping them better understand the information gathered through call centers, warranty claims, surveys, chat rooms, and other customer data sources.
Barry de Ville is a technical and analytical consultant at SAS and is a two-time SAS Sales Innovation Award winner. He was the original developer for the KnowledgeSEEKER decision tree package. He has given workshops and tutorials on data mining at such organizations as Statistics Canada, the American Marketing Association, the IEEE, and the Direct Marketing Association. He has authored several books on SAS press and speaks at Text Mining Events worldwide.
Jim Cox is the original Research and Development manager for SAS Text Miner product and has been directing these efforts now for over a decade. Before that, he was one of the designers and developers of SAS Enterprise Miner. In 1989, he received a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology and Computer Science from the University of North Carolina, and has over fifteen years research experience in Natural Language Understanding.
Mary Grace Crissey is the Marketing Manager for SAS Analytics. Crissey holds an MS in Management Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park and gained 20 years of mathematical modeling expertise as an active duty military officer. Currently she holds leadership appointments with several professional societies including Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (ACM/KDD) and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). Mary lives with her husband in San Antonio, Texas, and has two adult children (with a grandchild due spring 2009!).
