I love being able to share good news, and this is good news. You brought it to our attention that you could not locate a hot fix on the support.sas.com site using search. Thanks to your comments and a little work from our administrators, you can now search for hot fixes on support.sas.com using the search box at the top of any page. (Now would be a great time for me to stress the importance of your feedback. Without your comments, this omission could have gone undetected. So keep your comments coming!)
Finding a hot fix download
If you know the hot fix name or topic and simply want to locate the download package, try the following:
- Find a search box on the top of any support.sas.com page.
- Type the name or description into the search field .
For example: E9BA02 or hot fix for Compaq Tru64 9.2
- Select Downloads and Hot Fixes from the search drop list.

- Select Search or hit your Enter key.
How does this help? If you limit your search to the
Downloads and Hot Fixes sections, search returns only 3 responses to the query
hot fix for Compaq Tru64 9.2. However, if you search the entire support.sas.com site (you do not use the search drop list to focus your search), the same query returns 7 results. While 7 results are very manageable, try a search like
hot fix for Enterprise Guide and you will see how this feature can help you quickly locate content.
Finding information about a potential fix in the SAS Notes
As you know, our Technical Support Consultants write SAS Notes that document usage tips, implementation issues, and problems reported in the software. If a hot fix is created for the problem described in a note, we add a tab to the SAS Note page that links to the hot fix. Because we add the
Hot Fix tab and a link to the hot fix download package, searching for hot fix information in the
SAS Notes database may also help you locate a hot fix.
What is a hot fix?
Hot fixes address software issues uncovered by customer applications. For some customers, a hot fix provides a quick solution to an immediate problem. For others, it is system maintenance. Hot fixes have been tested and are fully supported. Find out more about hot fixes in the
Hot Fix FAQ.
UPDATED November 6: If you are discovering the Search drop list for the first time, please give it a try and
let us know what you think. Our poll has closed, but your comments can help us to refine this and other features over time.
