Craig Statham is a Development Manager for SAS Customer Intelligence. He works remotely from his home in the UK.
What are you working on right now?
I’m looking after customer issues that come into R&D through technical support. SAS Customer Intelligence is one of the success stories at SAS, but that means we have plenty of customers who always want to squeeze just that little bit more out of the product. So it’s my job to help technical support and provide extra development support for some of the customers who are “pushing the boundaries” in customer intelligence.
What are you reading?
I wish I had more time to read! Other than Sirius and Defects, I like to read science fiction and drama. I especially like Michael Crichton but for intrigue I will sometimes pick up a James Patterson. I’m not reading anything right now but I plan to pick up a book for my vacation in the Dominican. I’ve got my eye on
The Dangerous Days of Daniel X.
Who did you talk to at lunch today and what did you talk about?
I talked to my wife and kids. That’s the great thing about being remote and working from home – you can eat lunch with the family. We talked about (yawn!) me cleaning the yard.
How do you see SAS impacting the average person's life in five years?
They will get less spam mail and more targeted mail – that’s because SAS will dominate the world in customer intelligence. That’s what my boss tells me anyway!
What do you do to unwind after a long day's work?
I love to swim or fly a kite. I can do both these things with the kids and I find it extremely relaxing. I think I should try kite surfing… then I could put the two together!
