The First Step to a New Profile Application

Contributed by Marci Russell, Web Project Manager, SAS

For years (more than 10, in fact), we’ve provided a way for users to log in to the support.sas.com and SAS Web sites to make your experience on our sites more relevant to you.

To provide an even more helpful Web experience for our customers, we’ve updated the SAS Profile application. Those of you who have a SAS Profile will notice the cleaner overlay interface the next time that you log in or update your profile information. We’ve also added convenient functionality at the top of nearly every SAS Web page to log in, log out or edit your SAS Profile.

We’ve made changes behind the scenes as well. When you create a new Profile, we’ll e-mail you to confirm your address and ensure you intended to create a SAS Profile. We’ve also created password strength rules to lock down your SAS Profile account. In the coming months when you log in, you will be asked to create a new strong password as we migrate "old" Profiles over to our new application.

You may be asking, why create a SAS Profile? If you’re a power user on our site (and we know that many of you are), having a Profile enables you to:

  1. Subscribe to our e-newletters — You’ll receive the latest edition of our helpful e-newsletters focused on Training, Publications, Certification News and more. The latest SAS news will arrive in your e-mail inbox once a month.
  2. View your e-Learning — When you want to learn SAS but can’t get to a training class, e-Learning is for you! After purchasing one of our award-winning e-Learning courses, use your SAS Profile account to log in to My Training to start your e-course.
  3. Post to the SAS Forums — Share your knowledge with other SAS users by posting in the SAS Forums. If you need help using SAS, the forums are a great place to ask your question and get quick feedback from SAS experts around the world.
  4. Download Software — There are many helpful, free resources in Downloads and Hot Fixes. All you’ll need is a SAS Profile to download any of these great SAS software add-ons.
  5. View your open TRACKS — If you’ve opened an issue with our Technical Support team, you’ll need a Profile to keep up-to-date on its progress.
  6. Save time completing forms — When you purchase a book, register for training, sign-up for a Webcast or download white papers, create a SAS Profile account and log in. Any information you enter will pre-populate many of the forms on our site to save you time.

The new Profile application will allow us to provide more functionality to you in the coming months. We’re looking forward to the opportunity this new application is providing for our Websites. Let us know how you think we can use your SAS Profile information to serve you better. Watch this space for updates on our progress.
