Friday's Innovation Inspiration - Data miners slow churn

0

Churn is a huge concern for insurers, credit card providers and telecommunications companies - even utilities. This Post-It Note author says that his company has found a way to reduce customer turnover - churn - by 10 percent using SAS Data Miner.

In fact, there are many ways - using SAS - to reduce churn. Here's a really interesting case study of EDF Energy. The utility used SAS Access, data managment and predictive analytics to understand and reduce an average churn rate of 38%! (The top half of the story is a little fluffy. Make sure you read the lower half where the author talks about how EDF did the work and what the results were.)

If you're interested in reducing the churn at your company, you can search for stories or papers related to your industry on support.sas.com. Or, email me and I'll help you look!

Here is a great article for those of you interested in becoming a data miner, and here is the data miner training path.
