David Pope is a pre-sales manager in the SAS US Energy business unit which focuses solving business problem in the Oil+Gas and Utilities industries. Prior to his current role he was a Principal Solutions Architecture in SAS’ High Performance Analytics Practice. David has over 22 years of SAS business experience working with/at SAS, ranging from R&D, MIS, SAS On-Demand, and Sales and Marketing. In addition, his experience was developed working across multiple industries including: Finance, Communication, Energy, Media, Health Care, Government, Retail, and Education. His background in data integration and business intelligence combined with his expertise in using statistics, predictive modeling, and forecasting has enabled him to develop the necessary skills which allow him to suggest ways to improve existing processes, and describe new and/or innovative ways to solve business issues. David graduated Magne Cum Laude from North Carolina State University with a BS in Industrial Engineering and a Certificate of Computer Programming. He has presented at SAS Global Forum, IBM’s Information on Demand, and EMC World. He currently holds four U.S. patents for SAS with another one pending.
