I always love reading your articles, and this one really reminded me why. You make performance measurement far less boring and clinical than most authors do. And, as you find with those people emailing you, I also have hundreds of people in my own network emailing me about the same issue of getting buy-in and engagement for performance measurement and management in their organisations. It's so critical for people to realise they have influence, and to stick to the idea that they are performance leaders, even if they aren't their organisation's leader. On another note - I think it's so important that people like us (you to a greater extent than I, of course) who have decided we are leaders in the performance space, do what we can to help those crying out for help, however small. Articles like Don't Cry Shopgirl - which aren't the usual clinical boring style - are inspirational and engaging, and we need plenty more of that in the performance management world! Smiles, Stacey. My favorite scene is when "Shopgirl" goes to the evil competitor's store after her closing hours and the place is full of children (her target market) and other book readers and buyers. While not the focus of the movie, maybe the Consumer Centric approach with both lower prices, greater variety, and a better shopper experience works.
