Once in a while it pops up again, the question "what is performance management". And, to make matters worse, "what is the difference with BI". I am so sick and tired of this discussion. A few years ago I decided to step away from this discussion and only discuss what it is that we need to ACHIEVE with it. Like operational excellence optimizes business processes (optimizing cost, quality speed), management excellence aims at the management processes (making organizations smart, agile and aligned). I'd rather talk about management excellence. And if you insist to bring software into the mix, I would say. ERP software enables operational excellence, EPM support management excellence. frank |
