Forecasting. What does it mean to you and your organization? For two days in June here in Cary we'll host the fourth annual
F2009 conference so that forecasting professionals who help their organizations plan and compete more effectively can share best practices, attend training sessions and network with folks from around the world.
I was fortunate to attend last year and hear some great panel discussion and presentations. As a matter of fact
Dr. Anne Robinson from Cisco whose presentation I summarized from the Gartner BI Summit last week was a speaker at last year's F2008. I've blocked these two days in ORANGE on my calendar!
Here are all the details.
The event is June 1-2 in Cary, NC. Keynote speakers include
Oral Capps, Texas A&M University,
Jonathan Crook, University of Edinburgh,
Tony Bellotti, Credit Research Centre, and
Frank Diebold, University of Pennsylvania. Sweet!
Check out the
F2009 Web site for more details.
Speaking of forecasting - my peer, Mike Gilliland has an audio Web seminar on March 31 entitled
Alternative Approaches for Forecasting New, Low Volume, or Highly Seasonal Items. I plan to tune in before I head out for a much needed vacation that week!
Plus FYI, Mike has a great white paper that I love (the title and the content) called
Worst Practices in Forecasting. Check it out if you want a forecasting professonal's insights into the fatal forecasting flaws.
I predict tomorrow I will be busy - and I may not get a chance to post, but I can announce for all the Twitter-Bees out there that we have a Tweet Up planned for SAS Global Forum (#SGF09). The Tweet Up will be Sunday night, 8:30P at the Belvedere Bar in the Gaylord National lobby. See you there!
